World Diabetes Day

It was so cool to step out onto our balcony today and watch all the downtown buildings lit up in BLUE!
Austin joined other cities around the world in lighting their landmarks blue for WORLD DIABETES DAY.

Thte Statesman reported: Thirteen Austin landmark buildings will join an unprecedented number of prestigious iconic buildings and monuments around the world to be bathed in blue lights in a show of solidarity supporting World Diabetes Day. Following the Keep Austin Blue concert, event attendees will be given a map of downtown Austin marked with participating buildings bathed in blue lights and encouraged to drive through downtown to enjoy Austin’s blue skyline.  Read the story here: http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/charity/entries/2010/11/09/world_diabetes_day_events.html
Per the Austin American Statesman in 2009: Austin City Hall will be among the many prestigious iconic buildings and monuments around the world to be bathed in blue lights on Saturday, November 14. In a show of solidarity supporting World Diabetes Day, the American Diabetes Association (ADA), in collaboration with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), will host a celebration of this international day of diabetes awareness beginning at 7p.m. on the front steps of City Hall.
Austin City Council Member Chris Riley, County Judge Sam Biscoe and State Representative Mark Strama will attend to issue proclamations as Austin joins over 160 countries worldwide in the fight against diabetes. Dr. Kenneth Shine, Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, The University of Texas, will be the guest speaker.
While the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Opera House in Sydney, Australia, the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, the Empire State Building in New York, and the Alamo in San Antonio are among many noted landmarks who will “go blue”, there are a number of Austin landmark buildings joining City Hall in the fight against diabetes to cast a blue light of awareness across the city skyline on World Diabetes Day.
According to International Diabetes Federation spokesperson, Phil Riley, “Austin is the first city in the U.S. to have so many buildings participating in the event. The city is receiving a great deal of national attention of its unified support against diabetes and its complications.”
Other notable Austin buildings which will “go blue” on November 14 include The Ashton, The Austonian /Second Congress Ltd., Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum star, Capitol Tower Inv. LP/PRS Equities & Stream Realty Properties, Chase Tower, LLC/Endeavor Properties and Grubb & Ellis, the Domain/Endeavor Real Estate, Four Seasons Residences/Post Services Inc. & Ardent Residential, GSD&M, Monarch/Zomi LP PBA, and One Congress Plaza.

It is for events like these, that I am so proud to live in a city that is conscious of what is going on around the world and happy to participate and show solidarity for a good cause. LOVE AUSTIN!

Thanks to Everyone who has started to follow us!

We are so excited to be part of the blogging phenomenon. Now we just need to provide you with some interesting material to read.   I decided last night, this cannot be ALL about real estate, so we will try to put some intersting stuff here for you.
The good thing is that Austin is a city full of festivals, races, live music, etc etc...we will probably never run out of stuff to promote.  My dad calls Austin the city that likes to invent festivals - and it's true!  :)
Feel free to comment any time (Eddy already caught all my grammar mistakes)!

This never ceases to amaze me!

We moved downtown in the Fall of 2005.  At that time, W 6th was full of old warehouses, a huge pottery place, called Manuel's imports, and not even a super market nearby.
We have watched ALL the building come up, we witnessed the old intel building come down, Whole Foods became our neighbor, and a sleuth of bars has moved in!

We love our life downtown!  We have the best of all world, a beautiful park with a lake, great restaurants, museums, entertainment and great shopping!
We cannot wait to see what's in store....

These pictures (courtesy of Nicole James who shared the link) are exactly what we have witnesses here in downtown ATX!  Some beautiful shots, enjoy!
